Accessibility
Last updated: September 2026
SpeedyDry Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning is committed to making our services — and this website — accessible to everyone in our community, including people with hearing, visual, motor, or cognitive differences. This page explains what we have done, what we are working on, and how to reach us if you need accommodation.
1.Our Commitment
We serve all residents of Greater Victoria. If you have a disability — visible or invisible — we want to make it easy for you to book service, understand what to expect, and communicate with us in the way that works best for you.
We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our benchmark for this website and are continually improving the experience. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us. We take every report seriously.
2.For Customers Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Text us directly
You can text us at (250) 889-8490 for quotes, scheduling, and questions. We respond to texts the same way we respond to calls — no phone call required.
We also support the following communication methods:
- Text messaging (SMS): Our primary alternative to phone calls. Text us at (250) 889-8490.
- Video Relay Service (VRS): If you use a VRS interpreter, we welcome VRS calls to (250) 889-8490.
- Teletypewriter (TTY): If you use TTY, call through Relay BC at 711 and ask to be connected to (250) 889-8490.
- Online quote form: Our website quote request form requires no phone call to submit. We will follow up by text if you prefer.
On-site, our technicians will communicate in writing, by gesture, or through your interpreter. If you need a written summary of the work performed, let us know at booking and we will provide one.
3.For Customers Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired
Screen reader friendly
Our website is built to work with screen readers and screen magnification software. We use semantic HTML, descriptive alt text on images, and clear heading structure.
We support the following accommodations:
- Screen reader compatibility: Our site is navigable with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
- Keyboard navigation: Every interactive element can be reached and activated using the Tab, Enter, and Space keys alone — no mouse required.
- High contrast: Our design uses high-contrast colour combinations that meet WCAG AA standards. You can also use your browser or operating system's high-contrast mode.
- Text resizing: Our site supports browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Reduced motion: If your operating system is set to reduce motion, our site respects that preference and minimizes animations.
- Alt text on images: All content images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
On-site, our technicians will verbally describe the work being performed, point out any areas of concern, and confirm scope before beginning. If you need someone else present to help assess the work, we are happy to accommodate.
4.For Customers with Motor or Mobility Differences
No mouse needed
Our entire website can be navigated by keyboard. Tab through links and buttons, press Enter to activate, and use Escape to close menus.
On-site, our technicians will move standard furniture as needed to access cleaning areas and will return it to its original position. You are not required to assist with any physical task. If your space requires specific access arrangements (e.g., ramp access, elevator use, limited mobility parking), please let us know at booking so we can plan accordingly.
5.For Customers with Cognitive or Learning Differences
Plain language
We write our website in plain language. No jargon, no hidden fees, no pressure.
- Our pages use clear headings and short paragraphs so you can scan and find what you need.
- Pricing is published transparently on our pricing page — no surprises.
- Our technicians will explain what they are doing and why, step by step, if you request it.
- You may have a support person present during booking and during the service appointment.
- If you need extra time to ask questions or make a decision, take it. We will not pressure you to book on the spot.
6.Website Accessibility Features
- Skip to content link: Keyboard users can press Tab on any page to reveal a "Skip to main content" link, bypassing repeated navigation.
- Visible focus indicators: The element you are currently on is clearly outlined so you always know where you are.
- Descriptive page titles: Every page has a unique, descriptive title so you can identify it in browser tabs or screen reader lists.
- Labelled forms: All form fields have visible labels and instructions so screen readers and all users can understand what is being asked.
- Consistent navigation: The main menu is in the same place on every page.
- Resizable text: Text scales with your browser settings without breaking layout.
7.Known Limitations and Ongoing Work
We are continuously improving. As of September 2026, we are aware of the following limitations and are working to address them:
- Some third-party embedded content (Google Maps, Google Reviews) may not meet the same accessibility standard as our own pages. We are evaluating alternatives.
- Our quote request form does not yet provide real-time validation feedback for screen reader users. We are working on ARIA live region updates.
- Some older images uploaded before our accessibility audit may lack complete alt text. We are systematically reviewing and updating these.
If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, please report it. Your feedback directly shapes what we fix next.
8.How to Request an Accommodation
If you need an accommodation that is not described on this page — or if you want to tell us about a barrier you encountered — please contact us. You do not need to disclose your diagnosis. Just tell us what you need.
We will respond to accessibility requests within 2 business days. There is no charge for any accommodation we provide.
9.Feedback
We welcome your feedback on our accessibility. If something does not work for you, we want to know. Text or call us at (250) 889-8490, and we will work with you to find a solution. Every report helps us serve our whole community better.
