Carpet Fibre Testing

Carpet fibre testing determines what the carpet is made of before cleaning. The burn test is the most common: wool burns slowly and smells like hair, nylon forms a hard bead, polyester forms a bead with sweet smoke, olefin burns slowly. Chemical tests can further distinguish fibres.

Without fibre testing, a cleaner is guessing. Applying the wrong chemistry to wool can cause browning or damage. Applying the wrong process to olefin can worsen resoiling. Fibre testing ensures the process is matched to the fibre. SpeedyDry tests before every cleaning.
