True Cost Guide — Victoria BC

The first price doesn't tell you the whole story.

A room price tells you what the first cleaning costs. It doesn't tell you everything about the cleaning itself. Products, fibre compatibility, moisture, drying, re-soiling performance, and whether additional or corrective cleaning becomes necessary can all affect overall value.

What Affects True Cost

Price the whole clean.

Product Choice

What cleaning product is used and whether it is appropriate for the fibre affects both cleaning quality and what is left behind.

Fibre Compatibility

Wool, nylon, polyester, and olefin respond differently to cleaning chemistry. The wrong product can damage fibre or reduce cleaning effectiveness.

Moisture

How much water is used affects drying time, convenience, and the potential for over-wetting issues like wicking or browning.

Drying Time

Longer drying means more disruption. How fast carpet returns to normal use is part of the value of the cleaning.

Residue & Re-Soiling

Cleaning product left in carpet can attract soil. Carpet that looks dirty again within weeks may need corrective cleaning sooner.

Corrective Cleaning

If a first cleaning leaves residue, over-wets, or causes wicking, a corrective cleaning may be needed — adding to the real cost.

Independent Evidence

What the Carpet and Rug Institute says.

The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) evaluates cleaning solutions through its Seal of Approval program. CRI tests for soil removal efficiency and residue performance, and reports that some cleaning detergents and spot removers can leave sticky residues capable of attracting soil faster.

CRI also evaluates residual moisture in relevant extractor testing. The SOA program exists because product performance varies — and that performance affects how carpet looks and how soon it may need attention again.
