Buying Guide
What should you ask about carpet cleaning products?
Everyone can say "green." Ask what that means. These questions help you compare carpet cleaners on substance — not slogans.
What product are you using?
A specific product name with documented specifications is more useful than "green" or "eco-friendly."
Why are you using it?
The product should be selected based on the fibre type and soil conditions — not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Is it appropriate for my carpet fibre?
Wool, nylon, polyester, olefin, and triexta respond differently to cleaning chemistry. The product should fit the fibre.
How is it diluted?
Concentration affects both cleaning performance and what remains after extraction. Over-dilution wastes product; under-dilution can leave residue.
What certifications or approvals apply?
Does the product carry CRI Seal of Approval or WoolSafe certification? These are independent tests for performance and residue.
How is cleaning chemistry managed after application?
What happens to the product once it has done its job? Controlled recovery means less residue left behind.
How long should the carpet dry?
What are the expected drying times? Faster drying means less moisture in the indoor environment and faster return to normal use.
Are there manufacturer re-entry instructions?
Does the product documentation include guidance on when it is safe to return to the carpet?
Do you use different products for different fibres?
A cleaner who uses the same product for every carpet may not be matching chemistry to fibre. Different fibres need different approaches.
Everyone can say "green."
Ask what that means.
Product name. Certification. Fibre approval. Concentration. Moisture. Drying. Residue. Process. These are the variables that separate a genuine product approach from a marketing label.
